History of the Band

Midlife Crisis was first formed in 1991. The band plays an assortment ofdanceable tunes from the early 60's through to the present day. A sample of the current play list is included. All band members are successfully employed and their decision to form a band was predicated by the fact that their families had grown up and leisure time was available to re-establish a long-standing dream.

Midlife Crisis has received great reviews over the years. In 1992 the band opened for Valdy on Canada Day for the City of Kanata. In 1994 Midlife Crisis returned and performed in front of almost 20,000 people when they opened for the Pete Best Band from Liverpool, again at Kanata's Canada Day celebrations (Pete Best, you may recall, was the drummer for the Beatles before Ringo Starr). Subsequently, the Midlife Crisis Band was invited to perform at the prestigious Beatles Festival in Liverpool England. In August 1994 the band opened for Pete Best at Liverpool's famous Cavern Club, delivering a powerful set of hard-edged rock and roll to an enthusiastic capacity audience. A few days later they performed at the Cavern Walks leaving the crowd shouting for more.

Midlife Crisis was also the subject of a CBC radio documentary. Interviews with band members and commentary by broadcaster Robert Fontaine were featured.

Midlife Crisis was selected to perform at the gala 60th Anniversary of The Bank of Canada during which the Governor of the Bank of Canada honored those employees who had twenty-five years or more of service.

This band is clean cut, and realizes the importance of the clients who hire their services. The wide range of functions it has been hired for in addition to the above include the Mitel Corporation Christmas Dance at the Congress Centre, the Chamber of Commerce, the Kanata Sports Club, the former Newbridge Corporation, the Canadian Cancer Society, Theratronics, the Canadian Armed Forces, and so on. Letters of thank-you and commendation have been received for many of these events, indicating the fine talent and professional attitude of this band.

Midlife Crisis is most conscious of the need for quality sound. This factor alone can make the difference between the success or failure of an event. An otherwise good evening can be spoiled by a bad sound system that is possibly too loud or badly adjusted. Midlife Crisis employs the services of a very experienced sound technician to ensure a quality product is delivered.

The Midlife Crisis Rock and Roll Band consists of Bill Hein, Jacques Jolicoeur, Peter Read, Rob Read and Ed Taylor. The experience of all the band members is a key asset to the success of Midlife Crisis.
