Band Member Biographies

 

BILL HEIN
Lead Guitar and Vocals
Throughout the mid-eighties one of the hottest "party" bands to frequent Carleton University or Algonquin College was a band called The Riffs. Bill Hein played lead guitar for this band and was known for his blistering improvisations. During the last few years Bill has also pursued several solo recording projects. Although the proud owner of seven guitars, his favorite is his Fender Stratocaster. Bill's style is influenced by the talents of Eric Clapton, James Burton, and Carlos Santana.


JACQUES JOLICOEUR BASS - VOCALS
Jacques started playing guitar at age 9. His first performance was at 15 with the band Thee Multitude. This band performed at many clubs in the Ottawa area and the Outaouais. Jacques plays several acoustic instruments such as the banjo, ukulele, six and twelve stringed guitars in addition to the bass. His influences include The Eagles, Don Henley, and The Beatles.

PETER READ GUITAR - KEYBOARDS - VOCALS
In Midlife Crisis, Peter plays keyboards, guitar and sings. In 1963 he joined the Knick-Knacks with his brother Rob and friend Ed Taylor, he later went on to join Mundy Rane. Peter's influences include Country and Western artist's Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, and Alan Jackson in addition to The Beatles and The Eagles.

ROB READ DRUMS - VOCALS
Rob began playing the drums at age 12. In 1963, along with his brother Peter and friend Ed Taylor, Rob joined the Knick-Knacks, a band popular among the many high schools and public schools in the Ottawa area. This band was a regular at the Officer's Mess in the Rockcliffe area. Rob also played in Mundy Rane, which eventually reformatted into a power trio call Rane, which focused on the music of Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Hendrix. Rob's main influences include John Bonham, Buddy Rich and Ginger Baker.

ED TAYLOR GUITAR - VOCALS
In Midlife Crisis, Ed plays guitar, sings and writes original songs. In 1963 he was also a member of the band the Knick-Knacks, along with Peter and Rob Read. Ed has been with Midlife Crisis Band since it's inception in 1991.He enjoys song writing and performing original material, some of his first songs date back to the 60's. Ed's influences include The Beatles, Eric Clapton, The Eagles and "The Blues".
